Meditation is all about mind and thought control/insulation through simplification of technique from disturbance/stress.
Through the resident power of the mind we must seek to heal ourselves. God and the universe has created a wonderful mechanism called the brain and then in their infinite wisdom introduced thoughts into it.
Whether we believe them just to be thoughts or would like to categorise them as positive and negative or develop the ability to stand away from them and observe them and let them just be thoughts like an event which has to take place and therefore partially insulate ourselves from extreme emotions.
Experiencing emotions in the extreme has severe impact on your physical being and it manifests itself in a variety of illness/ailments.
Here we will not get into any philosophical /theological discourse but will make an attempt at self healing through this resident power.
There are several techniques of meditation when perfected they may get so structured that some of us may feel suffocated or even discouraged to attempt it.
Therefore learn techniques of meditation and adapt it suitably to suit yourself. Meaning try and avoid attempting ferocious meditation with a clenched jaw, puckered face and lying on the meditation mat rigidly waiting for the guillotine to fall.
Breathing the single most natural conscious/subconscious/semiconscious act is one of the most powerful tools we have with us for this self healing and regaining balance.
Stress today is the single most and the foremost debilitating factor. It is as natural as thoughts.
It should be our endeavour to simplify our lives-we have been around long enough to know that. The question is how do we do it—this again will have to come from within—the answer lies within. Take one issue at a time and simplify /streamline it. And then jot it down as an achievement for the day or as per your timelines.
Now the steps of meditation as we discussed.
Lie down in savasan positon with eyes closed (and not as described earlier).( and remember to uncurl your toes).
Wear simple and loose clothes.
Close your eyes and please do not immediately start quarrelling with your thoughts-just let them come- instead focus on your breathing and slowly the shortness/raggedness of breathing will start deepening and you will start feeling calm. The timing is as per your choice as to how long you want to focus on the breathing it could be as short as 30 seconds or may take a little while longer.
The thoughts are still there-let them run and gambol around. You focus on your breathing—it is the simplest act of nature. (And remember to unclench your hands please). And, do not stress over, whether palm upwards or downwards-let it lie in a comfortable way. When you were a newborn baby—every baby –the palms especially are folded naturally (there always is a natural state). Just go with the flow.
After some breathing control with your deepening breathing now commence talking to your body to start the relaxation process.
First, ask your toes to relax, soles of your feet to relax, your instep to relax, your shins to relax, your calves to relax, your knees to relax—inside of your knees to relax, your thighs to relax, back of your thighs to relax, your private parts to relax, your buttocks to relax, lower abdomen to relax, lower back to relax, your stomach, intestine, liver, spleen, kidneys, uterus, ovaries to relax tell your ribcage to relax ,tell your heart to relax (please do not request it stop!) tell your spine and upper back to relax, then tell your shoulders to relax, then go down the right hand and work from the tip of the fingers relaxing each items to relax, similarly go now to the left arm and work your back to the neck, then tell your neck muscles to relax and then the throat, tongue ,lips, facial muscle, nose, eyes ,eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, your skull, your scalp, hair to relax—all the while breathing naturally.
By now your body should have slightly lethargically heavy feeling.
Now imagine some liquid oozing out of your entire body—imagine this to be all the dirt and negativity absorbed within you—and slowly this liquid starts spreading around you and you will get a feeling of being emptied of dirt—you start feeling light and there will a clean feeling gently creeping over you. Notice the colour of this fluid.
Now start washing yourself with clean water (through your mind please). And imagine a gentle loving colour encasing and enveloping your entire body—the colour again is to be noticed and remembered (no need to mug it as if for an examination at the end of meditation and be truthful about the colour—one cannot and must never lie to oneself).
Now imagine yourself encased in this lovely, ever so soft & warm and healing cocoon of energy and look at the light inside you at the centre of your chest—there is a gently and softly pulsating source of bluish light—this is your soul—always pure and clean. Relax & enjoy its company for some time with it. It is all you.
Now imagine a miniature you and start strolling around inside your body, just meander around, walk to the nearest organ and speak to it and compliment it, if sense heat ask it again to relax and get well soon. Sensing of heat from a particular organ may indicate ailment or onset of it.
Speak to each organ lovingly as if to a child and always extend a healing hand to it.
Now let’s go to the brain-imagine it to be a clear shell—if it appears dense doesn’t matter we are here now to clean it up. We see a translucent brain in its outline as if from within a beautiful softly glowing blue colour (the colour differs from person to person).
Now just sit quietly at the back of your brain-maybe near the medulla oblongata-where the spine connects the brain—you may do a bit of vigorous cleaning with a brush , mop and a pail of water and wash the brain clean—depends on you.
Now as you sit in this shell of energy, see your thoughts as strands of white light crossing the brain from one end to another—entering from one side of the brain and emanating from the other side. Just observe them. Now see the continuous strands breaking and the wave lengths shortening, then some of the strands will disappear some will still remain but with reduced intensity, after sometime walk outside—stretch yourself and having lavishly complimented yourself—walk out on the surface of your face and stand facing your nostrils—you will see some light coming out of them as if there is a source of light in the passage—this colour will tell you how spiritually elevated you are.
Now is the time to become fully conscious and get up in and unhurried fashion, holding each posture for sometime—it should always comfortable to you
You will feel energised and rejuvenated.
This is required to be done regularly and the timing and template should be for you and you only.
People with darker colours/muddy colours need more cleansing.
This way we can start the self healing process.
